Summer camp at Lutheridge in the
Smoky
Mountains
of
North Carolina
is a place where the joy of faith and fun is shared.
This year's focus, in general, was on Jesus' amazing love for us. Even in times of transition, indecision and struggles, Jesus is with us. Through Bible study, songs, prayers and other activities, campers discover that no matter where, no matter what, Jesus is always there for them.
For the past 35 years, members of Faith have participated in Music Week at Lutheridge and have brought back to our congregation music material, techniques, new ideas and enthusiasm in liturgical worship.
Much of the music introduced was from Renewing Worship, the new red hymnal to be distributed to our Lutheran churches this October. The scope of the liturgies and hymns in this RW hymnal is global , that is, inclusive of African, Latino, Oriental and traditional Euro-American rhythms.
"Like Living Stones" was the theme of this year's Music Week. In I Peter 2:4,5 we read, "Come to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God's temple. He was rejected by the people, but he is precious to God who chose him. And now God is building you, as, living stones, into his spiritual temple, What's more, you are God's holy priests, who offer the spiritual sacrifices that please him because of Jesus Christ." This theme is our challenge in daily ministry.
Thanks be to God.
