WHAT IS "WOMEN OF THE ELCA?"
The Women of the ELCA (W/ELCA) of Faith Lutheran Church meet with each other and other Lutheran women to provide assistance for service agencies, host events and provide for the spiritual guidance through Bible Study.
W/ELCA supports the Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project for fair trade by offering the sale of fair trade coffee at the church.
W/ELCA of Faith sponsors the annual Mother-Daughter Banquet, as well as the annual Father-Son Banquet.
W/ELCA hosts the annual October Birthday party at Florida Lutheran Retirement Center.
W/ELCA contributes to the St. Andrews Lighthouse Facility in Jacksonville and the SWO, as well as PATH - a mission for the homeless in Citrus County.
The main purpose of W/ELCA is of Bible Study. At this time, Faith Lutheran has 3 circles - the Hannah Circle; the Rebekah Circle; and the Tabitha Circle.
Doris Smith is the leader of the Hannah Circle, which meets at the Lutheran Retirement Center the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m.
Rebekah Circle is headed by Doris Candelino. It meets the first Tuesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
Tabitha Circle is primarily a service project group. Its major projects are assembling school kits and health kits for Lutheran World Relief and filling shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. For information, please contact our church secretary, Ellen Ludewig.
COFFEE PROJECT
YOUR ROLE IN FAIR TRADE!
Mica 6:8 calls us, as Christians, to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly. The LWR Coffee project helps Lutherans answer that call by righting injustices faced by small-scale farmers around the world. The LWR Coffee Project closes the gap between our parish and the kind of communities in which LWR works. By using fair trade coffee and other products in our home and parish, we guarantee that farmers will earn the income they need to feed their families, educate their children, seek medical care, and improve their communities.
What difference can a simple cup of coffee make? Jose Luis Castillo Vasquez, a member of a cooperative in El Salvador put it simply; "I want to thank all of the congregations that purchase our coffee," he said, "it is thanks to you that we have a seed of hope in our lives."
Coffee - regular or decaf - $6.00 per bag
Hazelnut - $6.50 per bag
Tea - $2.50
Cocoa - $4.00
Please see Faith Eriksen or Doris Candelino to purchase.
Church Women United - Emma Leatherman is our congregational representative.
