THIS WEEK AT FAITH:
Wed Sep 19: Potluck; Budget presentation & Workshop.
Sun Sep 23 Worship 9:30 a.m. Mission Sunday Collection will go to ELCA World Hunger (This collection was postponed to the 23rd due to Confirmation Sunday.) Budget Workshop will be after Worship.
The Sanctuary Candle has been dedicated by Pastor George Willis to the glory of God and in memory of Ruby Metze.
It is very important that congregation members attend one of the scheduled Budget workshops where you may ask questions and offer input into these decisions. Following these meetings the Finance Committee will finalize a Budget Proposal to present to the Church Council. Budget Workshop as scheduled for the 19th of September during Potluck and the 23rd after Worship. Don’t miss these dates!
We have a Library!
We now have a tall bookshelf in the fellowship hall to house our informal library. Bring books to share, take them to read, keep them or return them as you wish. There will be room for magazines, Puzzles, and DVDs. The bottom shelf will be for the children. See Christine Medrano for details.
On the third Sunday of each month there will be a second collection for various needs of the church. The collection on September 16th will go toward ELCA World Hunger.
We are collecting again for school kits! What should be included? 4 70-sheet notebooks, 1 30-centimeter ruler – or one with inches and centimeter markings, 1 pair of blunt scissors, 1 box of 16 or 24 crayons, 5 unsharpened #2 pencils bound by rubber band, 5 black or blue ballpoint pens bound by rubber band, 1 pencil sharpener, 1 2.5 inch eraser, and 1 drawstring backpack-style cloth bag.
All items should be new and in good condition. Remove any excess packaging, pack all items in bag and close. Please do not donate any items decorated with a U.S. flag, patriotic or military symbols, or references to the armed forces, including camouflage.
School kit handouts are available in the communication center in the fellowship hall.
Help us with Food for Fellowship!
As you may know, we at Faith enjoy refreshments and snacks as well as fellowship after Sunday worship. Our volunteer hosts are always happy to provide these delights for us, especially those dishes they know we love. As you can imagine, this can get expensive – especially for those who host fellowship for us regularly. In appreciation for the good food they bring to us every week, we would like to help them out by bringing in food for fellowship. This will help their pocket books as well as our fellowship pantry! The best foods and drinks to bring in are those with a long shelf life such as sealed cookies, crisps, bottled tea, crackers and other snacks, but especially refreshments! Thanks!
The Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship services. Members are responsible for the care and cleaning of the altar paraments, and are very knowledgeable in the aspects of the liturgy and Church seasons. There is no experience necessary, and training will be provided. If you would like to help serve the congregation by filling this vital role, please call the church office at 386-734-2791.
