The Interfaith Kitchen is located in the basement of the First United Methodist Church of DeLand Thanks to all who served April! Great teamwork – thanks be to God! Big thanks go to the following for preparing and serving: Nancy Dascher, Paul Dascher, Scott Bouchard, Donna Bouchard, Scotty Bouchard, and Mr. Jackson. We serve on the second Tuesday of each month. This is a great opportunity for a group, club, or family to serve the community. There is no financial commitment necessary; simply a gift of time and service. The entrees for these meals are provided, but salads, side dishes, and desserts are always appreciated. Our next turn is tomorrow, March 13th at 5:00pm. If you would like to serve, please call Donna Bouchard at 386-873-7099 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ash Wednesday begins Lent! In this season of Lent we will have the blessing of guest pastors leading us during our 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Taizé services. On the 14th of March we are honored to have our Dean, Pastor Mark Wrinkler from Emmaus Lutheran in Orange City. Pastor Keith is back with us for the March 21st service. Lent will close with Palm Sunday or Sunday of the Passion on March 25th and Holy Week will begin.
In the south of Burgundy, France lays a small village called Taizé. It is home to a monastic community devoted to prayer and reconciliation. The characteristic of Taizé worship is the use of repetitive prayer set to simple musical lines. Those who attend Taizé immerse themselves in the harmonies and let themselves be carried by sung prayer. Our worship services during Lent will be in the Taizé style and we hope you enjoy the experience
On the third Sunday of each month there will be a second collection for various needs of the church. The collection on March 18th will go toward VBS.
There are many opportunities to express your giftedness! Sometimes all you have to do is pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to respond according to your abilities and interests. Be on the lookout for a survey! The purpose of it is to find the many talents and skills within our congregation – talents and skills that Faith needs to not only survive but to thrive in the coming years. We are all in the mission together to keep Faith alive so that we can extend our hospitality, serve our community, and most of all spread the Good News! Let the Spirit guide you!
Help us with Food for Fellowship!
As you may know, we at Faith enjoy refreshments and snacks as well as fellowship after Sunday worship. Our volunteer hosts are always happy to provide these delights for us, especially those dishes they know we love. As you can imagine, this can get expensive – especially for those who host fellowship for us regularly. In appreciation for the good food they bring to us every week, we would like to help them out by bringing in food for fellowship. This will help their pocket books as well as our fellowship pantry! The best foods and drinks to bring in are those with a long shelf life such as sealed cookies, crisps, bottled tea, crackers and other snacks, but especially refreshments! Thanks!
The Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship services. Members are responsible for the care and cleaning of the altar paraments, and are very knowledgeable in the aspects of the liturgy and Church seasons. There is no experience necessary, and training will be provided. If you would like to help serve the congregation by filling this vital role, please call the church office at 386-734-2791.
